iPhone 12 supports 5G, relying on Qualcomm Snapdragon modems. The iPhone 12 series uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 modem, and the signal will definitely be much better than the previous Intel modems. However, from the perspective of Qualcomm’s product rhythm, the Snapdragon X55 is not the latest product. The iPhone 13 will use an X60 modem.
In the settlement agreement between Apple and Qualcomm, it is clearly stated that products launched from June 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022 will use the Snapdragon X60, and will be launched from June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2024 The products are equipped with X65 and X70, the latter two have not yet been released.
Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon X60 in February, but due to the settlement agreement, until May 31, 2021, Apple can only use the Qualcomm X55, so the iPhone 12 is not equipped with the Snapdragon X60. Of course, Qualcomm itself stated that the Snapdragon X60 is prepared for 2021 devices, so the Android camp will not see models equipped with the Snapdragon X60.
