The silence is now broken, we have great smartphone the Elephone E10 for a review. Elephone is one of the manufacturers that relatively rarely introduce new smartphones. Even Ulefone, Oukitel and co. meanwhile have various devices in different series in the pipeline, is our last test report for an Elephone cell phone from November 2019.
The design resembles the Samsung Galaxy S20 + on the back and many other current smartphones such as the Redmi Note 7 from the front. The workmanship is surprisingly good. But you do not have a glass back, but only one made of plastic, which is also quite susceptible to scratches due to the smooth surface. Incidentally, the scope of delivery includes the smartphone, a silicone case and a charging cable. The Elephone E10 is not a compact smartphone.
The dimensions are 163.6 x 77.3 x 8.5 millimeters with a weight of 193 grams. This is average for a cell phone with a 6.5-inch display. The colors are blue, green or black. The back reflects strongly and has a color gradient depending on the incidence of light. I think that’s chic – but most of them will cover it anyway. The front is largely covered by the huge display, the edges are almost imperceptible on the left and right of the advertising photos. In reality, of course, you can see clear edges around the display.
For the display, Elephone unfortunately uses a panel with HD resolution, which results in a not particularly sharp pixel density of 264 pixels per inch with a diagonal of 6.5 inches. That’s okay for a € 100 smartphone. Individual pixels can still be seen with the naked eye, but the sharpness is sufficient in everyday use. The display is exactly as I expected.
Performance & system
Inside the Elephone E10, the MediaTek MT6762 aka Helio P22 from 2019 does its job. We already had this processor tested in the Oukitel K13 Pro. The chip clocks on four ARM Cortex-A53 cores with up to 2 GHz, the other four cores work in the energy-saving cluster with a maximum of 1.5 GHz. It is manufactured using the 12nm process. In the Elephone E10, it is flanked by four gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of memory.
There are four camera sensors on the back of the Elephone E10. The manufacturer promises that all of them will perform a proper task and that they are not dummies. The primary sensor has a resolution of 48 megapixels and is probably a Samsung GM1 sensor. As a secondary cam, Elephone installs an ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120 ° viewing angle and 13 megapixel resolution. The third sensor is intended for the detection of depth of field information and has two megapixels. The fourth sensor comes with five megapixels and a macro lens with a four-centimeter focusing distance.
The new smartphone from Elephone E10 covers all important frequency ranges in 2G / 3G / 4G – LTE band 20 is also included and even some frequencies for worldwide use. This is quite surprising for a low-budget device: FDD-LTE: B1 / B3 / B5 / B7 / B8 / B20 / B28ab TDD-LTE: B38 / B40 / B41.
The battery has a capacity of 4000 mAh. This is a good value for a € 100 smartphone. In the test, I got an average of 2 days running time. Even with frequent use, the smartphone does not become empty before the evening.
