Realme X3 SuperZoom Review

Realme X3 SuperZoom Review
Spread the love

The Realme X3 SuperZoom is to replace the Realme X2 Pro and we have it for review here. The addition “SuperZoom” illustrates the use of a 5X periscope camera that delivers up to 10X hybrid zoom images. The 64 megapixel Samsung GW1 64 megapixel sensor should aim at the main camera.

The other equipment shines with an extremely fast Snapdragon 855+, 128 or 256GB UFS 3 memory, 8 or 12GB RAM, a 4200 mAh battery and a 120 Hertz IPS display. The entire package sounds fair at a price of € 499 and in the test report we look very closely at what the Realme X3 SuperZoom has to offer.

Design

The Realme X3 SuperZoom measures 164 x 76 x 9.5 millimeters and is therefore visibly larger than the Realme X50 Pro. The weight is 203 grams. The Realme X3 is a heavy and large smartphone, as we know it from all devices in 2020. The design is characterized by a dual punch hole notch. The display is not rounded on the sides, which should please some users. On the back is the quad camera module, which protrudes almost 2 millimeters from the back.

Realme X3 SuperZoom test

Realme takes away the 3.5mm headphone jack in the X3 SuperZoom and doesn’t even put a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter in the package. In addition to a quick guide, a 30 watt charging adapter, USB-C cable, quick start guide, a case and a SIM needle are included. A screen protector is already attached to the display of the Realme X3 SuperZoom from the factory.

Display

The Realme X3 SuperZoom has a 6.6-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels. So AMOLED fans have to be strong, but Realme compensates the user with a refresh rate of 120 Hertz. This ensures a very fluid system and the high Hertz number is also a real added value in games. With 399 pixels per inch, the picture is razor-sharp. One looks for individual pixels with the naked eye in vain. The maximum brightness is just 450 cd / m², which is unfortunately not competitive.

Realme X3 SuperZoom display

The edges to the left and right of the display measure 3mm, there are 4 at the top and the chin is 6mm thick. The touchscreen convinces with precise and very fast implementation of all inputs. Gorilla Glass 5 protects against falls and scratches. There is even a dark mode in the settings, but with an IPS display it only offers visual advantages. A reading mode is also included and can be scheduled.

Performance and system

Realme packs the good old Snapdragon 855+ in a smartphone and that’s exactly what many users wanted. The performance of the 2019 flagship processor is still insane in 2020. There is no task and no game that the Realme X3 SuperZoom would not do with ease. Our test device is also the version with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The permanent memory is extremely fast UFS 3 memory and the RAM is not up-to-date LPDDR4X RAM. The SD855 + is an arrow-fast octa-core processor with a prime core with 2.96 GHz, three further fast Cortex-A76 cores with 2.42 GHz and a power-saving cluster with six A-55 cores with 1.8 GHz.

Realme X3 SuperZoom camera review

With the Realme X3 SuperZoom, the camera is in focus and we are now looking closely at the camera setup. A total of 6 different camera sensors are used, two of them front cameras and four on the back. The camera setup of the X3 SuperZoom at a glance: 8 megapixels, f / 2.3, 119 ° ultra wide-angle camera 8 megapixels, f / 3.4, periscope 5X optical zoom camera, OIS 2 megapixel macro camera 64 megapixels, f / 1.8, Samsung GW1 main camera 32 megapixels f /2.2, selfie camera 8 megapixels, f / 2.0, selfie ultra wide angle camera For the main camera, Realme uses the Samsung GW1 sensor and it slowly seems to me that the manufacturer has no other main sensor in its supply chain. What is special about the camera setup is undoubtedly the 8 megapixel periscope camera and the 8 megapixel selfie ultra wide-angle sensor.

Connectivity

The Realme X3 SuperZoom transmits on all relevant frequencies in the 2G, 3G and 4G (LTE) network in Germany with the usual strong reception. It shows once again that real smartphones are simply stronger when received than all other cell phones. This is really remarkable and I was still able to surf with the Realme in places where otherwise only e-reception is possible. The following network frequencies are supported: FDD-LTE: bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20/28 TD-LTE: bands 38/40/41 WCDMA: bands 1/5/8 GSM: 850/900 / 1800 / 1900MHz.

Realme X3 SuperZoom gps test

The Realme X3 SuperZoom has a 4200 mAh battery that is “only” charged with 30 watts. Only for the manufacturer Realme that is not much and it goes from 0 to 100% in just under 60 minutes. So still a good value compared to the competition. The battery life of the Realme X3 is quite usable in 120 Hertz mode, only in games the battery capacity decreases very quickly. The browser, YouTube and the UI also work permanently at 120 Hertz, otherwise the system also intelligently regulates down to 90 Hertz.
